At Houston Gateway Academy, we define grit as perseverance, determination, resilience, and passion for long-term goals. Grit is important because it is a driver of achievement and success, independent of and beyond what talent and intelligence contribute. To truly do well and thrive in life, we must be able to persevere no matter what challenges or obstacles we may encounter. Danielle is a scholar who possesses true grit. She has demonstrated passion and perseverance, and has followed through on achieving the goals set not only by herself, but also by me. I applaud her for her commitment and dedication to all scholastic endeavors. For these reasons, I have selected Danielle as my scholar of the month!
