Introduction

Greetings Parents and Scholars!

My name is Ashley Irby and I am thrilled to be a part of the Houston Gateway Academy fourth grade team! I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and I am a certified English as a Second Language/Generalist (EC-6) teacher. I strongly believe that education is a crucial part of life-long success. My goal is to help students master this year's curriculum content by providing a wealth of information and resources. This goal can still be accomplished in the comfort of your own homes! Just think of this site as your child’s digital link to learning. I encourage you to be involved in your child's academics. Let's work together to help your child strive for success!

Each week you will find uploaded assignments that should be used for additional practice. However, the weekly math grade(s) will be taken from Khanacademy.org. Please ensure that weekly assignments given on Monday from Khanadacemy.org are completed that same week, no later than Friday at 4:00p.m. If you need assistance with login information, please let me know.

At Houston Gateway Academy, we define grit as perseverance, determination, resilience, and passion for long-term goals. Grit is important because it is a driver of achievement and success, independent of and beyond what talent and intelligence contribute. To truly do well and thrive in life, we must be able to persevere no matter what challenges or obstacles we may encounter. Danielle is a scholar who possesses true grit. She has demonstrated passion and perseverance, and has followed through on achieving the goals set not only by herself, but also by me. I applaud her for her commitment and dedication to all scholastic endeavors. For these reasons, I have selected Danielle as my scholar of the month!

Awesome job Danielle! Your family, friends, teachers, and school community are very proud of you!
